How do you get help from an eating disorder without anyone knowing?

I've been struggling with eating disorders for about three years, and only a couple of my friends know about it. Recently, it's been getting worse, and I know that I need help. But I really don't want my parents to know because it will break their hearts. Is there any way to get treated without my parents finding out?

If you're not an adult, no. You cannot get legal medical help as a minor without your parents permission.
Reply:I can relate to how you want to do it on your own.

I hope that you can.

Please know that your parents love you very much.

Please try and believe that they already are trying to figure out how to help you...they just don't know what it is.

*it only breaks a parents heart when we don't let them in and let them help us!*

***When I needed help with a problem, I called all my family members and friends and told them what was going on, and what my plan of action was, asked them not to judge, and to just support me.***

(of course they cried, but they were relieved that they could be supportive and helpful!)

Good luck, and you are never alone.

There are groups, individual counseling, and treatment centers.

*anytime you see a doctor it's confidential.* ;)

Reply:You really need to tell your parents and get help. It isn't a shameful thing and there is nothing for you to feel guilty about. It isn't your fault and they will want to help you. Depending on your age, I don't know that you could get medical or psychiatric help for it without your parents.
Reply:WILL POWER. all you need if yur gonna do it alone. but you should tell your parents so you can get help. trying to overcome that by yourself could be challenging
Reply:well i still think that it is best if you let your parents know because when it gets worse they will find out and it is quite difficult trying to heal yourself

and when they find out any later they will get even more heart broken
Reply:You could try to find a way, but it might be best if you tell them so they can help you through it. Not having their support and feeling guilty about hiding this from them could make your recovery more difficult. Would'nt it hurt them more if they found out by themselves and that you didn't trust them enough to tell them?
