Are unemployment agencies free? Do they really help find people a job?

I need a job and am desperate for some help. I have an idea of what I want to do but I need help getting there.

Are unemployment agencies free? Do they really help find people a job?
Try the state unemployment office. It is free. The one in my state has really disappointed me however. Now all they do is sit you in front of a computer and give you a list of job websites such as career builder.com. They also have their own website that has job listing, but I haven't had any luck. And now with those job websites you must remember that you are competing with millions of other people just to get your resume looked at! My best advise is to look at the website of the company you want to work for and submit your resume directly to them. Good Luck
Reply:Your state unemployment agency is free. It is part of the government social programs. There are jobs available, how many depends on the area. Can you travel, are you able to be solvent as far as hours etc. A lot of times they offer basic skills classes, resume classes etc. You might even find a job working for them. Ask about the Civil Service exam and grants for people who are willing to travel to get work. As far as low paying Govt jobs is concerned...USA today had an article stating that, as of this year the average Govt job is paying better than their private counterparts. And they are typically more secure. It is going on summer, check with the forest service or BLM about getting on a fire crew. Good place to make some money and meet lots of new people. Good reference for a resume as far as discipline and community service goes.Good luck and don't get caught up in the on-line money making scams. They typically only make money for the ones who started them. No one else.
Reply:Unemployment agencies do indeed have jobs to offer, but they are usually state jobs with poor wages.
