BLEEDING, HELP! What do I do, my toenail was pull up and it's bleeding, and hurts?

I was moving a sofa and I accidentlly hit my foot and my big toenail was pulled up and seperated from the toe, and it is only attached a little at one end. It is bleeding, hurts, and the nailbed is purple. What can I do to stop the bleeding? Do I have to remove the nail if so how do I do that? I put on some Neosporin spray and bandage? What else can I do to help it heal?

Cut the detached part of the nail off and throw it away. Put cold on your bloody toe and prop your foot up to stop the bleeding. Just think, you will grow a brand new beautiful toenail.

Reply:Better cut the unattached portion with nail cutter. Then just wash it with soap and water. Do not put bandage for it will not dry. Let it be exposed and do not wear closed pair of shoes. Do not eat poultry products, beef, pork, fish, shrimps, crabs, watermelon, cantaloupe, grapes and mangoes. Drink 10-15 glasses of water per day so as to help in the healing process.

Reply:Start by icing the heck out of that thing. I had the same thing happen only I got it ripped off by a door. I wouldn't try to pull anythng off while its still bleeding and hurting so much. Ice it, soak the blood, then after the bleeding stops, wash it you can stand the pain. Your not in a huge rush here, you can take it easy. bandage it up with neosporin and whatever is clean and works for you. In my experience, the rest of the nail came off after a few days on its own. Be careful later when you wear socks. The surface of where the nail was can get gooey and your sock can stick to it.

i was moving the outside trash can %26amp;%26amp; it fell on my big toe.


so i removed the remaining toenail %26amp;%26amp; wrapped it up in whatever i could find.


i didnt put anything on it but it burned like hell!


i suggest putting ice on it to keep it cool.


it took about a year for my toenail to grow back.


now i have a toenail. :]
