What more could the Chinese government do to help the victims of the earthquake?

I see many questions about the earthquake, what more could the government do? In my mind they have done an extraordinary job so far.....but, I see others expect more?

What more could the Chinese government do to help the victims of the earthquake?
Let the other countries help out and give them their food.
Reply:Ask for countries who have specialise equiment for dealing with earthquakes for there help. Many hands are good, but using the right equiment or better is more logical.

HA I think you must be from the states, I think you better save that toast for then the big earthquake in LA happens, then if you went I can dance too. But in the meant time, I suggest that very one goes though you questions and reports them.

Note there is a different between the public and the way the govrenment runs things some could say there no diffent between China and Tibet and the USA and Iraq.

@Wilson!!

I would think that the problems of hurricane Kat. and the earthquake are not the same. For starts hurricane Kat caused massive flooding and nothing could be done until the holes in the dam where fixed. Earth unlike water can be moved to another place and it would stay put, water on the other hand has to be placed in a container or pumped out.
Reply:HI there..Earthquakes are natural disasters..we cannot prevent it..im not a Chinese but i live there...Its sad to see ppl dying anywhere int he world ..coz they leave behind families who love them so much...I believe China duz need help from other countries..they have everything they need...but maybe sometimes time runs out....but if they really cant manage then they need help but...since its 2008!! China cant be looking for help else where coz they are the host country of the Olympics. but im sure everything will be fine...Thought certain things happen....we cant think of them as punishments......

We all are human beings!
Reply:i think save as many people as they can.

To: HA

You'd better shut up!

You are one of the terrible racists in the wolrd.
Reply:Sichuan is a highly mountainous province, many roads to remote villages are blocked by mudslide and rocks, it delays the rescue......The government can't do anything about that, they can only do their best.....The only thing they can do is to build a strict construction code, don't let anything like it happen.

to HA, I will definitely dance when your family gun down by campus shooter.
Reply:The Chinese government should:

1. Allow professional foreign rescue teams come to help.

2. Take appropriate measure to audit big sum of relief funds received by charity organisations that are notorious for black-box operation, so as to ensure every penny goes to poor victims.

3. More importantly, seriously punish corrupted local officials who are criminals as they help the earthquake killing thousands students and teachers - school buildings should be stronger if they had not took big bribe from construction developer.
Reply:HA, you need to shut the fu** up!

you're a sub human
Reply:I think sending every functioning crane in the area to clean up the mess is already over enough.
Reply:Yes, the Chinese government has done a very good job. Quick action is very important in times like this where every seconds could save a few more lives. The size of the affected area is as large as the size of Belgium, so a lot of men and equipments are required to carry out relief and rescue works. The government has mobilised all their resources to this affected area very fast and efficient. At the moment no victims , the general public or any other parties has condemned the government on this matter.
Reply:"In my mind they have done an extraordinary job so far."

You said it.Let them handle Katria.
Reply:It's way too early in the catastrophe to level any kind of criticism at the government.

Those who call for more can ask for a visa, enroll in the Red Cross, and join the efforts with their own sweat.

This way, they won't have time to say or write stupid comments and requests.

This will give us a break.

Kudos to the Chinese government to deploy massive help in the best possible manner in a chaotic situation.
Reply:I know it's a cliche but Do the best what they can do.

@ Mr Hex Vision

You do know that Western machine are not the very best. Look at Katrina...the machines were useless.

@ Mr Hex Vision

I don't think China should rush with machines right now. The delicate victims should be handled with people's hands not machines.

I know you want machines to pick up the debris and the rocks but this need to be used delicately as possible and I don't think machines will be gentle.
Reply:They should accept all the help they can get from foreign experts. The disaster area is simply too large for the Chinese rescue teams to cover in short enough time. People are dying in the debris. The Chinese government has already unwisely turned down valuable offers from several neighbouring countries, offering in vain to send professional disaster rescue teams with search and rescue dogs.
