Will the military help financially with child care?

I need a job to help out with bills and things but since my husband is in the army active duty, and we just moved here, I have no one to watch my One year old daughter. I would just be working to pay for Child Care. Does the military help with Child Care?

Will the military help financially with child care?
The answer you are looking for is yes it is called subsidy, they base it on total income so depending on what you and your husband make will depend on how much assistance they will provide.

However once you're approved for subsidy you'll have to find a provider who accepts it, it is not required that all providers accept it but you should be able to get a list of providers at the FCC office.

Here on our base all subsidy acceptors are in home providers. I'm not sure about other bases but the FCC office will let you know that.
Reply:There are child care facilities on every base and the costs are based on sliding scales, using the total income of a household (both military pay and any money earned by the spouse) to determine how much you can pay. Generally, this would be much lower than you would pay for off base child care. However, the military does not supplement the cost of child care in any way, so you and your husband will have to decide what you can do. You face a common dilema..many families need both parents to work, but with young kids, the majority of one income usually goes to cover child care. My suggestion would be to look into something you can run from home...one of the home sales companies that thrive on most bases like Pampered Chef..where you would only need occassional child care. Another thing to look into is a part time job where you can trade off child care duties with another Mom who works part time. Finally, you may want to consider looking at opening an in home day care, especially if you live on base. Day care is always in need, especially someone willing to do nights and weekends.
Reply:I'm an active duty Marine and my husband was working to help with bills, so similar circumstances. When I had my daughter we had to look into child care as well and the military itself doesn't help but there should be an FCC office on base or nearby where you can apply for government subsidy. Subsidy is based on income so depending on what you and your husband make depends on how much assistance they will provide. Once you're approved for the subsidy you'll have to find a provider who accepts subsidy since not all do, but you should be able to get a list of providers in the area at the FCC office.
Reply:you might want to look into it, you can always ask the chaplain about things like this..a lot of people have a misconception that he only knows about church be hes a good resource for everything and he can put you in contact with the right people, also there are some places that will give you free child care and things like that so you can look into all of that stuff
Reply:The military offers child care services, but they are not free. They are usually cheaper than other off-base child care services though. If you are just needing some temporary financial help, the military will give you an interest free loan to cover bills and other expenses. This is not something that can be used on a regular basis though. If you just simply need extra income every month, but can't afford child care, then you need to look into working opposite shifts as your husband. If he works days, then you could work evenings/nights. That way someone is always home to care for the children. Its hard, but it is possible. Other than that, look into every possible way to cut your costs. We went down to one vehicle to help save money so that I could just stay home. We cancelled our cable. We got rid of our cell phones. We got a land-line through Vonage for our phone service (much cheaper than cell phones). We budget very tightly for groceries and ALWAYS stick to it. Things like that can make a huge difference.

Good luck.
Reply:no ...thats pretty much on you...they do allow you some child care to get out of the house while he is deployed..you can sometimes go thru your employer to get a discount on childcare at certain places also isnt childcare on base based on what you make...and sometimes the county you live in has child care assistance i know they did in north carolina
Reply:usually you will have to pay for childcare but depending on where you are and if your husband is deployed sometimes they offer what is called respite care which is 20 hours a month and they cut the rates of child care to make it easier on you . I am OConus so its a little different here , hope this helps
Reply:I am not sure what it is called for the Army but the Navy has the Navy relief fund and they helped me when I needed help with childcare. Is there someone on base you can call to get more information? I just did a websearch. There is something known as the Army Emergency relief fund. I do not know if this could be a option but, it might not hurt to ask.
Reply:On base Child Care is a little cheaper than off post, but there is usually a waiting list...but no you do not get any more money to pay for child care...but ironically the Military does give you money to help pay child support...it's called BAH Diff...
Reply:No, that's your responsibility and if you and your husband don't have a plan for child supervision he can be court martial-led for negligence! You should have thought of that before you decided to have a child!
Reply:no as such, no. On base child care is charged by the sponsor's paygrade, but the waiting list can be quite long to get into the CDC.

It is your responsibility, not the military's.
Reply:In UK. No.

You will get tax credits and child benefits then it is up to your husband to keep you in funds.

In US Army I do not know.
Reply:Base should had child care, but usually is not free.
Reply:no they don't - it is provided in a lump qyarters suppliment
Reply:they might, if u can get in a program that is on base i am sure that they will, depends on what services that u get with
Reply:I am not 100% sure but I think that you can apply for child care benifits. Alot of bases offer free child care. Have you looked into that.
